The Power of the 80/20 Principle in Marketing

carloguzzimarketingsecrets

Let’s face it 20% of our customers will bring 80% of our revenue.

So if 80% of our time is spent on customers that shop around we’ve lost a fair bit of revenue!

Well if this principle doesn’t make sense . Pls let m explain.

In 1906 an Italian Vilfredo Pareto observed & created a mathematical formula that described

how 20% of the population owned 80% of the wealth.

This principle has been widely applied to business in all areas of expertise and is simply known as

The 80/20 rule.

Trouble is most business owners hire Sales people that waste 80% of their time with customers that bring 20% of the results.

Maybe business owners should follow Pareto’s 80/20 Rule.

Which customers are in your top 20%?

Which 80% of your day is wasted on bum leads?

From which advertising is generating  80% of your leads coming?

Thoughts on influence Marketing!

Blog by @Timothy_Hughes

chiefmarketerThe world has changed, buyers now have the tools at their finger tips to allow them to research you and your competitors products services without the need to talk with your sales force.

I Sell Stuff, What is the Relevance? I don’t do Marketing

While the word Marketing is in the title of this, there is a clear reason (winning more deals) why Sales would be interested in this from both a Demand Generation as well as an Enterprise Sales pursuit point of view.

Are all Your Bases Covered?

Research from LinkedIn shows that in any Enterprise sales 4.7 people are involved, do you have all the bases covered? When the decision is made and recommendations are made and votes on solutions asked for. Are all the votes for you?

There are influential people in and outside of your accounts that people turn to for advice, these people could be…

Former Ad Executive Starts Kids’ Haircare Business – and Finds More Life Balance

Late Blooming Entrepreneurs

For almost 20 years, Megan Sanders held executive positions with advertising agencies in New Zealand, Singapore, Britain and Australia. When her son, Jimmy, was born three years ago, the Auckland woman began developing a different perspective on life.

“Being in a creative industry, it’s quite natural that one comes up with harebrained ideas.  And I have come up with a few in my time. I started looking at this amazing world of ours with a different lens,” the 43-year-old said in this New Zealand Herald article.

A business idea surfaced when Sanders was unable to find what she considered quality, natural products for her son’s hair. In 2012, she launched Pineapple Heads, a line of children’s hair care products that uses all-natural ingredients and fun, colorful characters that appeal to a very young clientele.

To develop her products, Sanders worked with a specialist in organic lotions and a French…

Sales is no longer about hype!

THE HYPE CONCEPT

My theory of why the Internet was invented in the first place was to eliminate the need for
Sales People.
In the past being in Sales mean’t your were in a tainted profession.
Slick as a Snake Oil Salesman was one common reference.
But when you really look at it to sell is a basic human function.
Let me further expand on this by relating this to our everyday life.
When our kids are toddlers we are trying to sell them sleep.
Teachers are trying to sell students if they do their homework they’ll end up in a better career.
Employers when interviewing a new recruit are trying to sell the benefits of that job.
Today the role of the Sales person has changed to being the facilitator.
So my advice to all Small BIZ owners is you don’t want to come across as being too needy.
Because neediness is the result of a lack of a Marketing plan
All people want these days is to provide them with the correct information first.
So when they are ready to make their final decision they will call the business that has given them

The appropriate information
The Right Product at the right price

An excellent book that further expands on the principle of Why Smart Marketing is more about

help than Hype is Youtility by Jay Baer

Go Here to get Jay’s Book

So don’t ever feel like you’re an average Sales person if you don’t have a steady flow of clients
because being the facilitator has it’s Rewards.
You seen when your competitor stuff ups and you’ve been constantly communicating
With your potential customer
Who do you think they are going to call?

You of Course ?
So persist , persist & persist with your Marketing efforts.
Because like a garden the more times you water it & fertilise it will grow ?

Marketing content is King so don’t hesitate to trigger your RAS!

Maybe some of us aren’t all born brilliant blog writers ?

There are a lot of Marketing Buzzwords out there in 2015 like

Content Marketing

Curated Content

Growth Hacking

Storytelling

So if you’re a Small Business owner and you are great at what you do but are not sure to publish blogs ,

or any online content.

Don’t feel bad because an internet dummy like me can show you how to unleash your creative power.

Well basically the answer is a bunch of nerves  located at the base of our skull somewhere between

the Medullla Oblongata and Mesencephalon.

https://i0.wp.com/wendyhansonconnects.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/ras.jpeg

GO TO BELOW SITE FOR MORE INFO ON RAS

http://www.reticularactivatingsystem.org/

Psychologists refer to this sensation as our RAS.

RETICULAR ACTIVATING SYSTEM

It’s main function is to filter out what you’re hearing and what’s in your subconscious mind.

Similar to how a secretary filters out the nuisance phone calls to prevent the Company Executive from getting interrupted.

Now let’s face it we are all consumers by nature.

Just say you want to buy a luxury car and research everything about it online.

The next day you might  be driving on the way to work and that same car you were looking for starts appearing

just everywhere.

You see those cars would have been there anyway.

It’s your RAS that hones in on that vehicle.

So how does this relate to Marketing , especially writing blogs ?

Well basically if you want to get good at this skill just like me you need a trigger point.

Last October I made a decision that I wanted to get good at email Marketing.

So I began to start listening to other Marketing Guru’s podcasts so I could learn to master this skill.

Basically all you have to do is start with an idea and  every time you’d be randomly doing an activity like

Chatting to a friend

be driving,

or be reading a book

your RAS will literally trigger an avalanche of ideas.

So if you want to come up with a great content for your business follow these steps

  • For example if you’re a Web designer try writing about hot topics like Social Media Advertising and break it down into sub headings like Facebook , Twitter , WordPress , Google Adwords, & Google Analytics.
  • Then in each category write about the solutions to common problems faced with clients  associated to the above topics.
  • Soon as you have a brainstorm get in the habit of having a notebook handy or use terrific apps like Evernote or Omni Focus that literally store thousands of ideas.

Could this secret be the big difference in getting your Blog read by lots of google visitors?

The hardest part is getting started.

You could say that once you’ve let the genie out of the bottle there’s no way of putting it back.

Let’s face it’s 2015 & content is King! So make money out of your RAS!

Do you want to become a Marketing Giant slayer in your industry!

I don’t know about you but I’m always checking out what my competitors are doing on FB.

It’s interesting to see how I measure up against the rest.

I see myself as the underdog just like the famous biblical tale of David vs Goliath.

At first glance people will always favour the more recognisable brand.

The Goliath Case example:

But being a giant doesn’t mean your quicker, it just means your stronger.

For example one company advertised on FB they are offering WordPress courses on how

To create your own website over a weekend.

I was curious so I filled out the survey form.

One week later I get a response from that WordPress expert.

A pretty sloppy effort in the Service dept don’t you think?

David Case Example

Just like David I’m agile and quicker off my feet that way I can pivot into a more

Advantageous position.

one way I build trust with my subscribers is by offering FREE Marketing tips delivered to their inbox daily.

So when you’ve got a Marketing issue in your business who are you going to turn to?

Someone who is slow off the Mark but will more than likely charge a hefty price for

Their service

Or Someone that delivers valuable content on a regular basis with an additional

1 HR FREE MARKETING CONSULT.

Are you an underdog in your industry? If so I’d love to be able to help you to become a Giant Slayer!

How to prevent your Business from being Branded ordinary!

One way is to know know the difference between Branding & Marketing?
A lot of Marketers use Buzzwords like Growth Hacking , storyscaping & culture of content etc etc.
So what I’m about to reveal today is designed to inform you that Branding is not for every small business.

So before you choose a Marketing expert ask them these 3 questions

  • ŸCan they provide you with a ROI figure from campaigns they’ve done on other similar businesses to yours?
  • Can  they provide you with any samples of their successful work for clients?
  • Do they have a back up plan just in case their Branding campaign doesn’t work?

Branding is defined as sign , symbol, logo, design that is easily identifiable to the consumer that is meant

To differentiate that sellers product to their competitors.

Marketing Is defined as the means of communicating to the end user why a particular product or brand is better
Than a rivals brand and the benefit of using that product.
So the best way to build your own business brand is by communicating effectively to your target market.

The best solution in a crowded online market place is to build your brand is via education marketing.

As a newbie on the Marketing merry go round I’m by no means sharing advice that is radical.

email marketing would have to be the most effective and cost effective way to educate your audience

Now lets do the maths.

ISP Charges  $1.00 for clicking your mouse

Add 15 minutes of your time to write an email  say hourly Wage say is $40/Hr

Your Cost so far  ISP Charges + Your Time = $11.00

Say you eventually sell $100.00 worth of goods  your ROI is a staggering $89.00

According to Danny Ivy’s new book The Audience Revolution Basically you want to avoid the old model of creating an offer and then finding a buyer is obsolete

Basically Advertising is a science and the results of various adverts must be tested first in order to find out what works best for your business.
